France Lotto Prize Breakdown
In the France Lotto, the main prize is won by matching all 5 main numbers plus the additional number, which is called the Lucky Number. If you match fewer numbers, you win smaller prizes.
The size of most of the prizes depends on the prize pool which in turn depends on ticket sales. Categories are assigned a percentage of this pool of money. Some of them do have fixed prizes and the jackpot grows by a set amount after each draw with no main prize winner.
There are 10 different tiers, each with its own criteria for winning.
Here is a breakdown of the prize tiers as well as how the money is distributed:
Category | Numbers Matched | Prize Pool % | Average Prize Amount |
---|---|---|---|
1 | 5 +1 | Jackpot | Minimum €2 million (~ZAR 38 million) |
2 | 5 | 8.44% | €100,000 (~ZAR 1.9 million) |
3 | 4 + 1 | 2.06% | €1,000 (~ZAR 19,000) |
4 | 4 | 7.43% | €500 (~ZAR 9,000) |

For larger prizes, the process may involve additional verification and documentation and visiting a payment centre. Online lottery sites often have automated payment systems providing instant payouts to player accounts.

While winning the jackpot may be challenging, winning smaller prizes in France Lotto can still be achievable.
